Eleni Ilkou is a visiting researcher in CIRES from September to October 2025 hosted by CIRES Chief Investigator, Professor Gianluca Demartini. During her visit, she collaborated on the project “Benchmarking AI-Tutoring Systems”.

Eleni is a researcher at the L3S Research Center in Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Universität Hannover, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Nejdl. Eleni’s research work studies the problem of knowledge graph representation (WP1) in terms of syntax and semantics. More specifically her research is focused on the personal knowledge graphs and domain knowledge graphs in e-learning applications (eg. educational KGs).

Having an interest in smart education led her to undertake a Master in Applied Computer Science, Vrije Universiteit Brussel, with the specialization in smart cities. She fulfilled her Master thesis working on a novel framework for structuring educational material, under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Beat Signer. Later she worked in the AI Lab Brussels as a researcher in an applied research project, focusing on explainable AI and ontologies.
