Prof Shazia Sadiq, CIRES Centre Director, participated, in a media briefing this week, with AusSMC for the launch of Part 2 of ATSE’s AI vision series: “Unleashing Growth – Australia’s AI Investment Blueprint.”

This new report models the economic potential of AI for Australia, projecting a 6–8% lift in GDP and $160–235B added to the economy within 5–7 years – but only if we invest in the right enablers for innovation and adoption.

Shazia emphasised that we are in AI’s “between times,” similar to electricity’s early decades. To seize this opportunity, Australia needs urgent and sustained investment in infrastructure, skills, and sovereign capability.
