Daan van der Weijden is a computer science PhD student with a passion for using technology to improve democratic decision-making processes. His research focuses on the use of artificial intelligence and natural language processing in digital deliberative democracy, where citizens come together to discuss and make decisions through online platforms. With his expertise in these fields, he is dedicated to creating innovative solutions that can help people engage in more meaningful and effective democratic discourse. Daan visited the CIRES Centre in April-May 2025 as part of the CIRES-WWW25 Visiting Scheme which supported high calibre students and early career researchers to visit the CIRES Centre in Brisbane after the 2025 ACM Web Conference.
