Geng Liu is a visiting researcher in CIRES from February to April 2026 collaborating with CIRES CI Prof Gianluca Demartini on the project “Evaluating Fact-Checking Capabilities of Search Engines and LLMs Across Chinese and Western Platforms”.

Geng’s research interests include: Social Computing Science; Safety and Fairness in LLMs. His current research investigates the capabilities of both Chinese and Western search engines and large language models (LLMs) in supporting fact-checking tasks. As LLMs increasingly shape the way users access information, his study evaluates their effectiveness in assisting users to verify factual claims in Chinese. By comparing Chinese- and Western-based systems, Geng aims to better understand how these platforms present factual information in the Chinese language.
