Hrishi Patel

Hrishi Patel is a passionate PhD researcher who joined CIRES in April 2023, based at the University of Queensland (UQ). He holds a Master of Data Science degree from UQ and has a keen interest in machine learning, learning analytics, and data science teaching. Hrishi has previously worked as a teaching assistant for various data science courses and also as a data scientist at UQ Business School, where he was awarded for his outstanding tutoring skills.

Hrishi’s PhD project “Expanding Data Sets to Allow Improved Critical Care for Children – Outpatient Risk Prediction,” is a collaboration with government partner Queensland Health, and is supervised by Dr. Sen Wang, Dr. Adam Irwin (Queensland Health), and Professor Shazia Sadiq. His research focuses on developing outpatient risk prediction models to mitigate the risk of sepsis in children. He is excited about collaborating with colleagues at UQ, CIRES, and Queensland Health to make a positive impact on children’s healthcare.
