  • The University of Queensland

Zhifeng Bao is a Professor in The University of Queensland and an ARC Future Fellow. His current research interests include data lake management and governance, particularly in the areas of DB4AI and AI4DB. On the DB4AI side, he focuses on developing cost-effective and scalable data agents that automate the process of identifying suitable datasets, discovering hidden relationships among datasets, addressing various data quality challenges (like missing value imputation and mismatch resolution), and assembling them to fulfill diverse user requirements within specified constraints. On the AI4DB side, he explores how machine learning techniques can optimize core database operations on both low-dimensional and high-dimensional data, including index selection, learned indexes, hybrid query optimization, and cardinality estimation. He regularly serves as the area chair or associate editor of top venues in the field of data science like SIGMOD, PVLDB, ICDE, and KDD. He was a recipient of the CORE outstanding research contribution award, two Google Faculty Research Awards, and numerous best paper awards.
