Prof. Abraham Bernstein

Professor Abraham Bernstein is a computer scientist with the Department of Informatics at the University of Zurich, where he also runs the UZH Digital society Initiative — a university-wide research and teaching initiative about the digitalization with more than 170 faculty members. He is an expert on the Semantic Web, Machine Learning, AI, and Collective Intelligence, and his research work is based on both social science and technical foundations.

Prof. Bernstein visited the CIRES Centre for six months from 1 December 2022 to 31 May 2023. During this visit, he collaborated with CIRES CI, A/Prof Gianluca Demartini, on a joint project on Large-Scale Political Participation: Issue Identification, Deliberation, and Co-creation, funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation.

Prof Bernstein returned to the CIRES Centre for a short visit in April 2025 before attending the 2025 ACM Web Conference.
